It all started in 1981. Jim started in the real estate business. Interest rates were very high, and a lot the big guns in the business were bailing out, and looking for greener pastures.
Realizing that people would always buy and sell real estate, regardless of the economy, Jim set about learning creative real estate financing and acquisition. Business flourished, and he went on to become one of the top producers in the area.
In 1986, Jim graduated from Missouri Auction School, and became an auctioneer, specializing in real estate and business auctions. He has sold many residential and commercial properties, as well as estates, businesses, and many other types of property at auction over the years.
In 1995 Jim founded RealtySmart Incorporated in the Hampton Roads Virginia area. RealtySmart was designed to be an alternative type of real estate business, representing buyers, and showing sellers creative methods to market their property.
In 1998, with boating being one of the great passions his life; Jim founded YachtSmart Incorporated. YachtSmart has become one of the top yacht brokerage firm the Hampton Roads area.
In 2004, YachtSmart started selling some yachts at auction on the Internet.
This turned out to be very lucrative, and greatly enhanced the brokerage sales of YachtSmart. The sellers loved the system and obviously, so did the buyers.
By 2005, several clients asked Jim if he would sell other items for them.
So “ Jim DesRoches Marketing”, was born, thereby tying together RealtySmart, and YachtSmart and creating a marketing system to sell large items such as real estate, yachts, entire businesses, heavy equipment, farm equipment, large estates, and most anything that can be sold- either at auction or through the brokerage process.
Over the years, Jim has acquired a great team of talented professionals, well versed in all types of sales.
